   Your view re the safegets.[ch] files sounds reasonable to me.  Seems
 better place them under patches/ as patch files, now I think.  I'll
 hack up a fix with imap-{uw,utils} after the thaw.  Please do review
 them then.
 
 
   And at a glance your patch seems fine though I've not tested yet.
