I recall screen artifacts from some time ago.  I thought there is/was an is=
sue
somewhere (Gitlab, or one of the GitHub repos maybe?), but I can't find it.=
  If
what you are describing was the same as I experienced, the problem occurred
after rebooting.  If I restarted X after the reboot the artifacts went away.

In any case, it sounds like installing xf86-video-intel or forcing DRI3 with
the suggestion jbeich posted might be a better solution for you.
