     How big is the history file size (compared to the processes' max
allowed data size)?  CVS has a number of brain-damanged areas; one in
particular is that CVS reads the *ENTIRE* history file into memory when
doing stuff ... and it's doing so simply to scan the history file
line-by-line ....
