Don't use sysinstall if you can help it.
I prefer ports; even packages are ok.
The easiest way is to use lynx, like

lynx www.freebsd.org/ports

or even

lynx freebsd/ports

will work ( it'll guess )
You can navigate the catagories or search for your application.
Each application shows you the dependencies, and has links ( that way, YOU
are the package manager, not some application :)

hehe.. I have the same exact card.. vibra16x pnp .. I got luigi's sound
driver to work, although OSS is a decent choice as well
( www.opensound.com ) With OSS, you just make sure there are NO sound
drivers compiled into the kernel.. it runs on the commandline and
configures pnp stuff, auto-detects the card, etc.. very easy, works ok
too.
Unfortunately, it's commercial, and the program will stop working after a
period of several days, in which time you are obliged to pay for it (
somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 dollars -I think-, but don't hold me
to that :) If it's worth it to you, do it that way. If not, Luigi's pcm0
/pnp stuff does work with this card, and I can help you if you run into
snags.. ( it's a little weird, because the card gets put on pcm1 , and you
need to make new symlinks in /dev ( audio1 -> audio , instead of audio0 ->
audio like it "normally" is, etc ) )
