Sounds like you have problem with ribbon connecting dvd to motherboard. Fbsd does not handle a single device as slave on the ribbon. Move DVD to master position on ribbon. If you do have an master and slave device on ribbon then be sure both devices use same ata mode. Hard drive may be ata100 and the dvd ata33 this could cause your problem with DVD. -----Original Message----- From: owner-freebsd-questions@freebsd.org [mailto:owner-freebsd-questions@freebsd.org]On Behalf Of jr@ebcrp.org Sent: Friday, May 02, 2003 10:31 AM To: mrspock@esfm.ipn.mx; freebsd-questions@freebsd.org; jr@ebcrp.org Subject: RE: Re: DVD+RW and FreeBSD 4.7 >----- ------- Original Message ------- ----- >From: mrspock@esfm.ipn.mx >To: jr@ebcrp.org >Sent: Thu, 1 May 2003 -0500 (CDT) 17:45:16 > >On Thu, 1 May 2003, JR Richards wrote: > >> Hello Folks, >> >> >> >> I'm running FreeBSD 4.7 with a Sony DVD+RW drive >and am trying to get >> this darn thing to work with burncd. >> >> >> >> These are the packages that I added recently: >> >> Cdrtools-2.00 >> >> Mkisofs-2.00 >> >> >> >> This is what happens when I try to run burncd by >hand: >> >> backup# burncd -q -f /dev/acd0c -s 10 data >filename >> >> burncd: ioctl(CDRIOCNEXTWRITEABLEADDR): >Input/output error >> >> > >It is problem I had while using burncd in 5.0 and >a DVD-RW also. > >> >> >> Can anyone help me get this thing up? >> > >You may want to reconfigure your kernel. Do I erase those and add them concurrently, or is it okay to leave them in their present order? _______________________________________________ freebsd-questions@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-questions To unsubscribe, send any mail to "freebsd-questions-unsubscribe@freebsd.org"
