Just some more questions...

Right now, I'm using the "linux" terminal option in my shell, which is
bash.  Although it gives me what I am looking for, and what I am used to
9from linux) in an ssh session, it basically blows up when I am
physically at the computer.  I've tried different terminals; xterm,
xterm-color, etc etc.  Which would consistently give me a) color in my
dir listings, and b) the ability to use the delete/backspace keys as
they're meant (under some terminals, I guess they have different
mappings).  I'm really tired, so maybe I'm not as clear as I meant to
be.  I'm sure that someone has experienced the same situation, and I am
looking for the help of those who have.

vidcontrol -h size

lets you set the scroll buffer size, I *think* it defaults to about 300.
