Correct. You will have to compile in sound support, period. Be positive :)

Never had problems with 3.2 floppies (both RELEASE and STABLE) and 2940
controllers (ahc). Always worked out of the box. Are you sure you don't
have a flaky controller? You may want to get a pair of 3.3 floppies anyway
since that's the current version and try those.

Can't help you with the network card, sorry. Get its precise specs and
check the supported hardware in the handbook.
