So you will probably think this is pretty funny, I'm sure this is a classic newbie mistake. I decided intall a java compiler, and while I was still signed in as root on my system, I decided to write a simple little program just to see if the compiler was installed right (this is still one of my first ports, and I'm still a little unsure of myself). Well, the port installed alright, b/c the program I wrote compiled just fine. But after I compiled my program, I tried to change it a little, and then move it to the directory usr/local/jdk1.1.8/bin, but inadvertantly usr/local/jdk1.1.8/bin/java and overwrote the java file directory. Is there any way to get this file back? Also, when I made the port, I was in the usr/ports/java/jsdk directory, and used: #make install clean to make the port, I couldn't figure out where it went though. I started using the one in usr/.../jdk1.1.8,that I mentioned above b/c I was never able to find jsdk-2.0 after the port installed successfully. Where did the jdk 1.1.8 come from? Does it automatically install w/ FreeBSD? I'm running 4.5. If any one can help me w/ either or both of these problems, I'm all ears. I could reinstall Freebsd w/o much of a problem since I haven't done much the system, and still have to switch back to windows for a number of things, including internet, but reinstalling just seems like an awful lot of trouble to go to for one file.
