Still new stuff to bring up... I have my kernel config attached
(SHALL), dmesg and pnpinfo output.

Ok. There I tried a few things.

1- I searched for BIOS upgrades from Award.

Grr. They're _selling_ it. I don't know if you guys know somewhere I could
guess free Award BIOS updates, but the search I've made disgusted
me. Award now subcontracts the BIOS to unicore.com, or something like
that, so I can't upgrade my BIOS without paying a fee, which I don't want
to do.

'guess I'll wait (long time) for OpenBIOS! :)

2- Compiled and recompiled my kernel for my modem

Yes.. my modem is not working. It's a plug and play modem, and it's not
recognized on boot:

unknown: <CIRRUS LOGIC PnP V34 MODEM> can't assign resources

The FAQ tells me that the kernel should tell me the modem's PnP ID, but
it's not. With pnpinfo, I can get the data in the 'pnpinfo' attached
file. As suggested in the FAQ and in the spirit of the CVS changes to the
file /sys/isa/sio.c, I've tried the following patch:

564a565,567
> /* This is for the same modem, the first one seems to be wrong */
> {0x0010320d, NULL}, /* CIR1000 - CIRRUS LOGIC PnP V34 MODEM
(Logical Device ID) */
> {0x0020320d, NULL}, /* CIR2000 - CIRRUS LOGIC PnP V34 MODEM
(Vendor ID) */

Still no luck. Same dmesg message. What should I do then?? I _was_ able to
use this modem before, when I used 'pnp'.

Maybe I should try -hackers?

3- Compiled/configured and recompiled/reconfigured my kernel for PS/2

I've tried to compile my kernel clean with PS/2 support, and no dmesg
message is different, I still get ed0 device timeout after a ifconfig,
etc. Not working.

This is very strange. I guess all it's left to do is to yell at the
reseller of the NIC. I bought another thing along with the NIC (lava
serial port card for another machine) and it's not working either, so
probably that the NIC is dead too.

Thanks,

A.
