Yep as the qmail SMTP daemon tries to do reverse DNS lookup's on both
the connecting IP and on it's own IP. If there is no proper reverse it
will pause until the reverse lookup times out.

Subject: qmail & smtp

I finally got all my qmail & qpopper stuff setup, and everything is
working ok.

question is, when i connect from my local network, to send a email,
qmail pauses for about 3 second before going through instantly. I am
guessing this is a DNS problem, and i was wondering what would be the
best way to fix it.. my local network is in the /etc/hosts, or would i
be best adding local dns info to bind?

thanx
