Virtual hosting in Apacheland is simply the hosting of several distinct web
sites on one machine.  Originally virtual hosts were kept separate by giving
each host its own IP on the same machine; today virtual hosts can be
distinguished by either IP address or name.  The configuration of virtual hosts
within Apache is essentially the same in both cases.
