One interesting thing about the IDT chips is that it is possible to reprogram the Origin string, and some one else may copy this miss feature in the future. If you do a yahoo search on the above ID string you'll find a few web sites that talk about this misfeature. > real memory = 100663296 (98304K bytes) > > instead of: > > FreeBSD 2.2.6-STABLE #0: Sat May 16 23:45:40 PDT 1998 > root@dreamer.dreamfire.net:/usr/src/sys/compile/DREAMER > CPU: Pentium (132.96-MHz 586-class CPU) > Origin = "GenuineIntel" Id = 0x52b Stepping=11 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ > Features=0x1bf > real memory = 100663296 (98304K bytes) > > Can anybody help?
