Unfortunately my athlon is running windows .. (T-bird 1.2ghz).. I do however have similar problems under 2000.. (and any other OS i've tried on that machine).. The box will be going along fine and all of a sudden and then the monitor will just shut off.. Or another one, I'll be using it.. again, going along just fine.. everything will freeze up (except the mouse), if I keep clicking mouse repetitively the PC Speaker will emit a beep and then EVERYTHING completely locks up. As much as I would love to blame this on windows it seems more like some sort of hardware issue to me. I dont know if you're having similar symptoms under FreeBSD but it would be interesting to find out what is causing your problem since it might be what's causing my problem. I have tested my memory with various boot-floppy type ram testing utilities and it's come up clean (let it run all day). So I would love to find out exactly what's going on with yours :-)..
