I cvsuped and made world because I couldn't get the sound going on a ess1868 sound card that came with the machine and I couldn't apply the patch 2.2.5 cleanly from Luigi's driver. I didn't help. The end result is that the patches didn't apply cleanly so I backed them out, leaving only soundcard.h. I recompiled the kernel again and the results of my dmesg, I hope, show that I am close but no brass ring, yet:-) I am also attaching the kernel config lines that I am using and the results of pnpinfo that I was't able to interpret correctly, I'm sure. If anyone can tell me what I didn't read or do, because everything points to that, I would appreciate it. It, unfortunately, won't be the first time I open myself up for a little heat :-) Thanks ed --------------35343C77350111713187038F Received: from ns.mexcom.net (ver1_180.uninet.net.mx [200.38.135.180] (may be forged)) by EDISWITCH2.uninet.net.mx (8.8.8/8.8.8) with ESMTP id IAA02826 for ; Fri, 13 Feb 1998 08:09:06 -0600 (CST) Received: from sunix (eculp@sunix.mexcom.net [206.103.64.3]) by ns.mexcom.net (8.8.8/8.8.7) with SMTP id IAA23452 for ; Fri, 13 Feb 1998 08:14:17 -0600 (CST) Sender: eculp@mexcom.net Message-ID: <34E456B7.370476D7@mexcom.net> Date: Fri, 13 Feb 1998 08:20:40 -0600 From: Edwin Culp Organization: Mexico Communicates X-Mailer: Mozilla 3.01Gold (X11; I; Linux 2.0.14 i586) MIME-Version: 1.0 To: eculp@ver1.telmex.net.mx Subject: dmesg References: <199802131333.HAA00211@webcafe.mexcom.net> Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Edwin Culp wrote: > > Copyright (c) 1992-1998 FreeBSD Inc. > Copyright (c) 1982, 1986, 1989, 1991, 1993 > The Regents of the University of California.
