Digging deeper: r318882 does work for me, as that revision hat the amd64
cases - that's exactly the pristine config.sub as found in other
projects.
Test for yourself:
/bin/sh ./config.sub amd64-portbld-freebsd9.1
with whatever config.sub you have around.
