The last I heard, it had been ported to Linux at the beginning of this year, and a port to FreeBSD 2.0.5R was being initiated. CAPS, as I last understood, did not handle phase II appletalk on FreeBSD. The advent of lkm on FreeBSD made me think that a port of netatalk might be a little easier, but I've been to busy to contemplate looking at it. It's better left to the experts anyway.
