I turns out my T41 has got an Atheros-based Wireless card in it. Using
'if_ath_load="YES"' in /boot/loader.conf gets the Wireless card
recognized. I haven't gotten any other wireless equipment yet, so
further testing will have to wait.

Oh, that sucks.
Some of the newer ThinkPads needs a hdd firmware upgrade ; I am told
that it has to do with corruption / dying of the hdd. Mine didn't need
the upgrade (at lest the program told me so).
