I'm trying to install FreeBSD from the Walnut Creek CD-Rom but I haven't had any success. I have a 75MHz Pentium with two IDE controllers. The first IDE controller has two 1 Gb hard drives connected to it. The second controller has an IDE CD-Rom. During the probing stage, it seems to recognize the two hard drives on the first controller and also the CD-ROM but somehow it is looking for a third hard drive which doesn't exist and it just hangs there. Here are some messages that I get: ... wd2 size unknown, using BIOS value wdc1 unit 1 (atapi): NEC CD-ROM DRIVE: 272/4.15 wcd0 689Kb/sec, 256 Kb cache, ... wcd0 medium type unknown, unlocked ... (after some more messages the screen goes blank but I can read some debugging messages by pressing PrintScreen) DEBUG: IOCTL (3, TIOCCONS, NULL) = 0 (success) wd2: can't handle 64 heads from partition table (truncating to 16) wd2 wdunwedge failed wd2 status 70 <rdy, wrtflt, seekdone> error ff <badblk, uncorr, id_crc, no_id, abort, tr000, no-dam> ... (The same messages keep repeating periodically...) Is there a fix for this? thanks, Luis
