Had the same problem from a Feb. 2nd build.

A patch to aic7xxx.seq was posted on Feb. 5 that corrected the problem
for me on old EISA HPs w/aic7770s.  The patch, along with other changes
was committed on Feb. 10. 

I'd try a rebuild from the later sources, should clear up most if
not all of your problems.
