Is there a specific reason you are looking to move from sendmail to qmail? If you are looking to move from sendmail because of problems with sendmail then you might also consider other MTAs. postfix is one which internally works similarly to qmail, but is intended as a plug-in replacement to sendmail, sendmail.cf excepted. Performancewise I think you may find both to be in a similar league (i.e. much faster than sendmail). See http://www.postfix.org for more details. I think there is a freebsd port of postfix, if not postfix installs out of the box. It also comes with "migration instructions". If you are only interested in qmail then I apologise for wasting your time.
