This doesn't concern me particularly because the X setup is inclined to be icky at best & very few config items have GUIs / soundanyway. I've been considering writing a couple of step_by_step HOWTOs on configuring X & configuring sound .... from looking through Greg Lehey's "Complete FreeBSD" however it looks like more trouble than its worth.
