Apologies if this isn't the best list to ask this on, but: Is the 3.0 kernel (or some subsequent kernel) going to support the optional inter-process synchronisation semantics for mutex, cond var and the like? Presumably supporting these features has some major impacts on the way that processes are scheduled, and how processes' resources are tracked. On a similar note, will the AIO APIs be implemeneted too - and is it expected that they will provide a worthwhile performance boost over select/pselect (got that too?) or poll?
