Further hardware informations on my laptop are available at: http://www.seindal.dk/rene/linux/ I'm going to do a CDROM installation with two bootdisks, that I created with "makeflp.bat" (kern.flp and mfsroot.flp). Both disk were creating under MSDOS. After restarting my laptop, I get the following messages and the computer hangs. --- start here --- /boot.config: -P Keyboard: no >> FreeBSD/i386 BOOT Default: 0:fd(0,a)/boot/loader boot: BTX loader 1.00 BTX version is 1.01 --- ends here --- It is not possible to enter any parameters at the boot prompt (=> Keyboard: no). Well, i figured out that I can type some characters a second before the floppy starts reading. So when I enter the parameter -h, the installation continues. But I have to be very fast because my keyboard apparently only works before the disk is loading. Anyway with this little hint I can continue till the next boot disk, which is "mfsroot.flp". This is the output with -h till my computer hangs again. --- start here --- /boot.config: -P Keyboard: no >> FreeBSD/i386 BOOT Default: 0:fd(0,a)/boot/loader boot: -h BTX loader 1.00 BTX version is 1.01 Console: internal video/keyboard BIOS drive A: is disk0 BIOS drive C: is disk1 BIOS 639kB/39936kB available memory FreeBSD/i386 bootstrap loader, Revision 0.7 (root@monster.cdrom.com, Mon Mar 20 21:05:31 GMT 2000) /kernel text=0x1d581e data=0x24c60+0x1a718 | Please insert MFS root floppy and press enter: --- ends here --- At this point my laptop is stuck again cause I can't press enter after the disk change. I think that my internal keyboard isn't supported by the kernel. Even the boot parameter -h, doesn't help at this point. But it got further than without it. I can press enter while boot disk "kern" is still being read, but this goes to fast to be able to insert the next disk. I did it only once and I guess I was very lucky, cause I spend about three houres last night to figure out how to avoid this problem. But I think I need serious help now. So if anyone knows how to fix/avoid that problem, please reply. I really appreciate any kind of help.
