I had some problems recently with mozilla refusing to start too, and got it working again by having mozilla create a new profile (by renaming ~/.mozilla to something else, and then starting mozilla). This was before this thread started, so I didn't see the info about how to see the debug info - so I'm not sure how my problem compared to anyone else's. But it's something that can be easily tried.
