For 8GB of storage, I really would just go eBay a SCSI controller and
matching 9GB disk.  This would run you about $80.  If you do want to do
this, provide eBay item numbers for the SCSI controllers you are
considering and I'll check them out to make sure they'd work for you.

For a PC164 you want a Qlogic 1040 or 1020; or almost any NCR/Symbios/LSI
controller.
