To use icc for builds, try the following environment:
ICC_LOCALBASE=/usr/local/intel_cc_80
CC=icc
CXX=icpc
CFLAGS="-O -march=pentiumiii -xK"
CXXFLAGS=${CXXFLAGS:-$CFLAGS}
LD=$ICC_LOCALBASE/bin/ldwrapper/ld
PATH=$ICC_LOCALBASE/bin:$PATH
MANPATH=$ICC_LOCALBASE/man:$MANPATH
FWIW, I only build ports with icc.
