Subject:   problems with libgnome upgrade

So, I'm upgrading (2.10.0>2.10.1) libgnome as part of  everything that 
the new tiff touches/is touch by.  The last line I get is, "checking 
LIBGNOME_LIBS...".  At that point, the upgrade progresses no further.  I 
check ps, and see that pkg-config is eating all available cpu cycles.  
I've let this run as far as 35+ minutes of cpu time on a 2ghz system.  
That seems like a lot of time to check  what libraries are out there, 
doesn't it?  Any suggestions?
