TJ, Do you have access to the web? If so, take a look at www.freebsd.org or mirrors. Check the FAQ and handbook. There are pointers to where to get ASCII versions of the documents as well as how to connect to the internet. If you don't have www: ftp to freebsd.org look into pub/FreeBSD/docs for different versions of the handbook and FAQ.
