I've looked a bit in how Outlook Express is able to retrieve hotmail mail and got not much smarter after that :-) I think you should check out /usr/ports/mail/gotmail which is a perl script that should be able to retrieve HotMail mail into a local mbox and then configure Evolution to use that local mbox for your hotmail. Maybe fix a cron script that does it for you as often as you like.
