* Ralph Robinson <ralph@rkis.com> [20010107 10:56]: writing on the subject 'ethernet traffic monitoring program' Ralph> I would like to monitor ethernet traffic. Ralph> Can any one recommend one that they are using? Ralph> If possible to monitor multiple ip's on the same server (one nic) Ralph> I would need to log the traffic for monthly reports. I did an apropos for 'traffic' and got this: ipfirewall(4) - IP packet filter and traffic accounting ipfw(8) - controlling utility for IP firewall and traffic shaper tcpdump(1) - dump traffic on a network If you read the man pages for those 3 I'm sure you'll be able to choose one that suits your needs. The implementation might be the deciding factor.
