Simon:

There is no pop server/daemon included with FreeBSD, so I don't think you
could say any are default. Personally, I use qpopper from Qualcomm. Doesn't
support IMAP, but as I've no need for this, it doesn't bother me and I've
never had any issues with qpopper.
