I am working on voice transmission and need to know what changes need some help regarding for voice recording. I can play the audio files using 'cat file.au > /dev/audio'. However, 'cat audio > filename' does not record the voice of the person speaking on the microphone connected to the SoundBlaster 16 card. Can somebody help me regarding the ioctl's that I need to do before I can start reading from /dev/audio or is there some other procedure involved in voice recording rather than a simple cat /dev/audio.
