And an easy question to answer. Many, many people would love this. All it takes is someone or group of developers to DO IT rather than just ramble on and on about how nice it would be to have and eventually descend to the bikeshed about what should be a package and what should be "core." FreeBSD is free. Anyone can build their own packaging system to distribute it. They can bake it for profit if they want! They can offer it back to go into the repository (where it will be accepted _somewhere,_ whether in the base or in the projects repo if it is any good)! They can GLP it if they want!
