If you have portupgrade installed, pkg_which will tell you:

  $ pkg_which xterm
  XFree86-clients-4.3.0_8
  $ pkg_info -o XFree86-clients-4.3.0_8
  Information for XFree86-clients-4.3.0_8:

  Origin:
  x11/XFree86-4-clients
