I need something I can access from cgi, as well as Visual Basic (gasp!) on Wintel or Filemaker on Mac. I'm running 2.2-Stable and have been playing around with MySQL and PostgreSQL. Not having any luck with the ODBC stuff that comes with MySQL (mysqld core dumps all the time - yep I used the standard port with --with-mit-threads). I have made relational databases with Visual Basic and Filemaker, and am starting to learn a bit of SQL but the whole thing is pretty new to me. Suggestions appreciated! The project is for a student report writing system in a high school with lots of Networked Macs and a few Wintels. Filemaker Pro has run out of steam and I need something SQL based - I think. Eddie.
