The 88SX7042 got generally positive reviews. I don't know what is the problem in your case. Last time I tried mine 88SX7042 it was working fine, though I never used it in production to be completely sure, only for lab testing. Make sure it is not a cable/power problems. Try to move card to different slot (earlier chips from that line had some odd problems with some slots). Try to limit link speed to 1.5Gbps (for many HDDs it still should not be important). -- Alexander Motin
