The woman you talked to probably has no experience whatsoever with computers, and wouldn't know Linux from FreeBSD. However, her script tells her that it's only compatible with Windows, so that's what she says. I think it's bullshit. Basically, by sticking to Windows only, they can hire uneducated support personnel who can answer 95% of the questions off of a script. If it's a modem, it's either supported hardware or not.
