/etc/os-release symbolic link isn't created if you upgrade from 12.1-RELEAS=
E to
12.2-BETA2 with regular steps described in /usr/src/Makefile. This problem
doesn't happen if you use freebsd-update. The source is that there no logic=
 to
handle symbolic links in mergemaster. And patch to fix it is submitted as b=
ug
242212.
