My name is G. L. 'Griz' Inabnit, and I have just recently become the documentation coordinator for the voice modem package, vgetty, developed by Marc Eberhard. As you're already aware, vgetty is packaged and shipped with Gert Doerings' mgetty. The problem that we've run into of late, is the lack of documentation for the voice side of the package. Subsequently, we are now working very hard to correct this. After following the mailing list for some time now, I've noticed that the different 'package maintainers' of the different LINUX releases sometimes alter the directory structure or file placements of the mgetty+sendfax package. This is understandable, as each distribution is slightly different from the next. What I want to do now is get any/all of the changes made per release, documented. In this, I mean that if your package calls to have modems set to cua verses ttySx, or the directory structure is shifted in any way, etc, just drop me a note with some quick explanations as to why. This way we (the mgetty mailing list, Marc, Gert, and myself) can distribute this info as widely as possible, and hopefully save you folks some 'tech support' time. Thank you for your time and energy in this matter and we'll be looking forward to establishing a good working relation in the near future. Respectfully, G. L.
