Fact is I found (someone posted it in questions I think) that you can
test the Xorg "the old way" by using the -retro switch:

X -config /root/xorg.conf.new -retro

I've tested this and it works fine, so I will probably revise the patch
tomorrow - this will make it a lot smaller.
