No, it's not that simple. A name with a dot on the end is absolute, like a UNIX pathname with a / at the beginning. A name without a dot on the end is relative, like a UNIX pathname without a / at the beginning. It's relative to the name of the current zone, which is specified in named.boot (version 4 of named) or named.conf (version 8). Thus, in the example (zone file for integral.on.ca), "integral.on.ca" stands for "integral.on.ca.integral.on.ca.", and "integral.on.ca." stands for "integral.on.ca."
