Great news indeed that JavaWebStart runs fine under linux-communicator-4.76. Since I am using Mozilla more and more as my primary web browser, I am looking for a way to run such Java applications within it. My understanding is that the best way to achieve this would be to get the JDK13 running native under FreeBSD, then adding the appropiate OpenJava hooks into the ports build of Mozilla. But the status of getting JDK13 to FreeBSD seems like a rather "touchy" subject on this mailing list. It is rather beyond my current competence to offer much help in such a porting effort but I would like to ask this list what the current status of this undertaking might be as I have downloaded the JDK13 source and would like to at least play around with porting it. Finding a patchset somewhere to would be helpful. Are there legal issues about getting the JDK13 working (related to the distribution of patches or something)? Or are there technical obstacles related to the underlying threading mechanisms (that will be resolved in RELENG_5 or . . .)? Any pointers to relevant material on the WWW would be helpful, but the current copy under only refers to porting the IBM JDK13, nothing about Sun's version. -- Mark Evenson "A screaming comes across the sky.
