I had forgotten to move it into /etc > after updating to 3.4. mergemaster is your friend. :) Seriously though, I don't see that line in my 3.4-Stable updated on 1/30. There are 5 lines, the one that seems to apply is: xdm auth required pam_unix.so I finally decided to give up on pam for xdm, I just built it without pam.
