For some reason that I do not understand Emacs replaces blanks
at positions that have the next word start at column n*8+1 with
tab characters (not visible while editing).

I have just noticed this in the commit log messages (which due
to the extra indentation move the columns to the right and thus
make the tabs visible as extra blank space).

I'll see t o get this fixed and hope the next commit message
will not suffer from this issue ...
