I stumbled an article here https://www.bidouilliste.com/blog/2015/07/22/FreeBSD-on-Olimex-RT5350F-OLinuXino/ though his using RT5350F chipset but the outcome is very similar to my DIR-600 RT3050F. The next step he did is also the step that I am figuring-out at the moment on creating an mfsroot. It is also described in the manual https://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=md&sektion=4&apropos=0&manpath=FreeBSD+13.1-RELEASE+and+Ports. At least I have two options to explore. I attempted exploring flashing different firmware at that time but fell short with support of this chipset because at the time, if I remember correctly, only Atheros-based chipsets were popular and common with firmware support. So, I decided to keep it until 2 weeks ago I found and remembered this device again as someone is cleaning my room and placing it into another location. I opened it again to check what the chipset was, as I really forgot it. I also plugged the power cable and found out that it is still operational. I searched the internet and found some documentation and most especially the link howto from FreeBSD on compiling a kernel, so I decided to try again. So, that's the reason why I'm here :) As I searched further online there were still modules available for sale that are using Ralink and Atheros chipsets. Maybe this is the reason why interest is still growing.
