Wow, there are now *3* differnent folks working on this.  Brian Somers
is working with the code that Charles sent me and has added some new
stuff to it.  He wants to commit the code himself, so I've held off
doing anything with it (and also because I'm on a business trip meaning
I can't test it fully).

Hold off just a bit longer if you would please.  I won't go into 2.2
anyway, so there's no big rush.
