You should update your ports tree, because the current version in the ports 
tree is pkg-config 0.15. Please, search in the mailing list archives, this 
one kind of problem always come in everyday when nobody keep their ports 
tree and apps in their system update.

Hint: Start to install sysutils/portupgrade to keep all your apps update by 
automatic.
