Gentlemen, its done, freeBSD 5.1 has been installed.PartitionMagic 8 did the trick though :( sad that I had to use windows. anyway, this is what I did.(Daan deserves credit) 1.free disk space at the last logical drive of the extended partition. 2.resize the last logical drive to create unallocated space. 3.*here's the best part* Resize the Extended partition such that the unallocated part gets left out completely. 4.thats all, apply changes. please excuse me, I havent slept in 2 days and maybe I'm displaying bursts of euphoria. :D was hard though, but enjoyed every bit of it.Had to go through documentation about disk geometry, inodes and what not... anyway I'm thrilled. X config and all the rest was a breeze. setup GNOME , looks good. all set for a great ride. Thanks to Daan, Remko and Avinash couldnt have done it without you guys. ok think I'll stop. ;) cheers, toufeeq Its 9:30 am here, and I think I better go to sleep now cause the monitor seems to be spining around my head.just wanted to tell u guys about it. --- Avinash Piare wrote: > Hi, > > I had a similair problem as Remko described.
