I have a question about ppp. Before, i used linux and all i had to set up to connect to my isp using PPP, (not slip) was configure : ================== /etc/resolv.conf /etc/ppp/options ================== Now that i install freebsd, i'm confused. I went to the www.freebsd.org , and went to handbook and look for setting up ppp. Well, i found : ========================== 15.1.5. PPP Configuration and 15.2.1. Working as a PPP client ========================== I notice that ( 15.2.1. Working as a PPP client) is identical as setting up PPP to connect to my isp with linux. But i don't understand what ( 15.1.5 PPP Configuration ) is for? Using ( 15.2.1 Working as a PPP client ) makes you use kermit or minicom, or a chat script; which i am used to using minicom to connect to my isp when i used linux. And using ( 15.1.5. PPP Configuration ), you just type in "ppp" then, you do all this commands, then you type in "term" and from there you can dial in to your isp. I'm just wondering what the difference it is between using ( 15.1.5. PPP Configuration ) than from ( 15.2.1. Working as a PPP client ) ? All i want to do is connect to my isp, and accomplish pppd so i can stay connected. To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
