 Two errors in the original bug report:

 > Most of the data in the bad region is shifted 2 bytes.
 > Some of the data is shifted 1 byte.
 > Some of the data is shifted 3 bytes.
 
 I misread the cmp -l output :-( No shift by 1 or 3 bytes. Only by 2 bytes.
